Express Entry

Since January 2015, IRCC has launched a new management system called Express Entry to manage permanent residence application for following immigration streams.

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
  • Federal Skilled Trades (FST)

If a candidate meets the eligibility requirements for one of the above immigration programs, he/she can create an Express Entry Profile to get into the Express Entry pool. Based on the information provided by the candidate he/she will be ranked in the Express Entry pool using a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The CRS will calculate your scores based on several factors: Skills, Education, Language Ability, Work Experience and Adaptability. In addition to these factors, a candidate can also get more points with a valid job offer, provincial nomination, Canadian degrees, diploma or certificates. Once you receive an invitation to apply (ITA) from IRCC, you will have 90 days to submit an online application for permanent residence. Most of applications are processed within six (6) months or less from the date you have applied for your permanent residence.
